PTFE fabric is a sort of new material in 21st century, and is widely used in various sorts of industrial machines, one of which is heat press machine. It is said that the PTFE fabric allows perfect heat press operation, and is welcome by most heat press factory owners, then the questions come: What is PTFE fabric? How can it do good to heat press? This article would answer all the questions.
PTFE fabric, also called PTFE fiberglass fabric, Teflon fabric, is a sort of new material made of PTFE and fiberglass, which owns the features of excellent release, non-stick, high temperature resistance, anti-corrosion, food grade safe etc. In this respect, the fabric are widely used in industrial application and home cookery of some biscuits etc.
Then why can Teflon fabric owns so many advantages? Just as mentioned above, it is made of PTFE or Teflon and fiberglass. Teflon is sort of material which was discovered by Dupont company, it can be taken as one of the best discoveries in the 20th century, Teflon® is considered to be the most slippery material that exists. It withstands extreme temperatures, is an excellent insulator, and is resistant to nearly all industrial chemicals and solvents. Generally speaking, Teflon itself owns the features of non-stick, high temperature resistance etc.
In this way, PTFE fabric made of Teflon or PTFE undoubtedly inherits all the advantages of Teflon perfectly.
According to Wikipedia, a heat press is a machine engineered to imprint a design or graphic on a substrate, such as a t-shirt, with the application of heat and pressure for a preset period of time. While heat presses are often used to apply designs to fabrics, specially designed presses can also be used to imprint designs on mugs, plates, jigsaw puzzles, caps, and other products.
Most heat presses currently on the market use an aluminium upper-heating element with a heat rod cast into the aluminium or a heating wire attached to the element. For high-volume operations involving the continuous imprinting of items, automatic shuttle and dual platen transfer presses are used. The substrates to be imprinted are continuously loaded onto the lower platen and shuttled under the heat platen, which then applies the necessary heat and pressure.
The pattern is printed in sublimating ink on sublimating paper which allows the pattern to transfer.
PTFE fiberglass fabric could help the heat press process in the following aspects:
I. PTFE fiberglass fabric owns the feature of stable physical performance, that is low extension, and low deformation under even extremley low and high temperature of 260°C, when putting the clothes, e.g on the machine, it could effectively aviod the clothes’ sticking to the pad, which saves lots of labor cost and financial lost due to damage of clothes.
II. For the clothes made of fiber cable, it is easy to stick to the aluminum pad, the PTFE fabric has speacial version, anti-static version, which could solve the problem.
III. Just like mentioned above, the PTFE fiberglass fabric could resist high temperature of 260°C, and it is also heat conductive, it ensures the normal work of machine, the success of heat press without any damage to the surface of clothes etc.
Generally speaking, the advantages of PFFE fiberglass fabric could effectively do good to the heat press work, saving cost in finance and labor both, moreover, it allows the heat press machine more lifecycle.
